Well hello there and welcome to The Tooled Cow. First off let me thank you for joining us and I hope you find something to interest you. We are based on the Devon and Dorset border near the quaint town of Bridport.
Well what are we about, firstly it's a place to showcase the leather work of A. M. Peters (or just Tony). Second it's also a place where other locally made art or crafts can be advertised. My reasoning for this is that not everyone has the time, inclination, or can afford to advertise elsewhere. So I'm hoping to have more things to showcase soon.
Okay lets introduce the leatherwork. The leather itself is mainly sourced from the oldest tannery in the world, which just happens to be down the road in Collinton, Devon. It's not the cheapest leather that can be found but it is some of the best.
All fittings where possible are brass, not inferior brass plated. As you may be getting an idea, I don't like rubbish.
All stitching is done by hand using a saddle stitch, while it's slower it is stronger. You may also be interested to know that even the thread is twisted by hand. What does this mean for you. Well you can have something that looks that bit different, from the regular run of the mill stuff that is pumped out in quantity.
You can't buy this quality or even type of work elsewhere. Not that means the price's necessary reflect this. It is quite a lengthy process to transfer some of my designs on to the leather and then tool it.
